Maybe you're having a business idea.
Maybe you've left a career you were good at.
Maybe people keep asking you for help with something you take for granted.
Maybe you've accumulated knowledge that could be useful to someone else.
Or maybe you simply know you're ready for something different—but you haven't figured out what
One thing I learned after fifteen years of working with entrepreneurs is that good business ideas don't always arrive as bolts of inspiration.
Often they're hiding inside things you already know how to do.
Experience, expertise, and lessons you've accumulated.
Especially the things you assume are easy because they're easy for you.
Interest matters more than people sometimes admit.
That's where an interesting idea begins becoming a business.
Short ideas for any business owner, no matter where you are in your journey.
For more than fifteen years, I worked with thousands of entrepreneurs through the Small Business Development Center.
I saw businesses succeed. I saw businesses fail. I watched people chase opportunities that weren't right for them—and others turn very ordinary skills and experience into businesses that changed their lives.
Eventually, I became less interested in the question “What's the hottest business to start?”
I became much more interested in:
“What is the right business for this particular person?”
That's what Next Act Entrepreneur is about.
Once a month or so, I'll send you something useful about choosing a business, starting one, marketing it, using AI wisely, dealing with customers—or figuring out whether entrepreneurship is even the right next move. No hustle culture. No promises that you'll make six figures while sleeping. Just useful ideas from someone who's spent a lot of time around small businesses.
